About us

Established in 2015 by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, and the Slovenian Film Centre, RE-ACT is an initiative designed to foster closer cross-border collaborations within its regional film industries while encouraging the internationalisation of both projects and professionals.

Starting from 2026, RE-ACT is expanding its reach by hosting additional European regions as guest partners. On a rotating basis, one or more selected territories can join the initiative, allowing their producers to participate fully in all activities, including tailor-made workshops, networking events, and the Co-Development Fund. For the 2026–2028 cycle, RE-ACT is delighted to welcome Montenegro as its first guest partner, a collaboration that strengthens broader European cooperation and creates new opportunities for cross-border synergy.

The RE-ACT framework is built upon three main pillars: training, networking, and a Co-Development Funding Scheme. High-level workshops are organised to support the growth of professionals from the member territories, while dedicated networking events facilitate connections among producers and with international partners. Furthermore, the Co-Development Fund provides financial support to projects co-produced among RE-ACT producers, enabling collaboration from the earliest stages of development and acting as a catalyst that unlocks access to further international financing.

The initiative’s training pillar is centred on professional development and career growth, achieved through partnerships with Europe’s most prestigious training providers, including EAVE, Eurodoc, Torino Film Lab, First Cut Lab, CEE Animation, and Ex-Oriente, among others. To date, RE-ACT has successfully delivered 20 tailor-made workshops, empowering over 100 professionals, supporting more than 70 companies and facilitating the production of over 100 projects.

The RE-ACT Co-Development Fund has so far supported 73 projects involving over 100 different companies, with more than 20 titles already completed and released. The scheme covers fiction, documentary, and animation, achieving critical success across all three genres with over 150 festival premieres, including Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, Rotterdam, Annecy, and Toronto.

Key success stories demonstrate the fund’s capacity to identify and support projects with the highest international potential from the RE-ACT region: recent examples include Fiume o Morte! (Rotterdam, EFA Best Documentary), Little Trouble Girls (Berlin, EFA nominee), Cosmonauts (Berlin) and Small Body (Cannes, EFA Discovery Award). Other notable achievements include Steakhouse (Annecy Best Short, EFA nominee), History of Love (Karlovy Vary, Slovenia’s Oscar candidate), Menocchio (Locarno), and Half Sister (Karlovy Vary).

Fostering collaboration is at the core of RE-ACT and this is why networking activities are the cornerstone of this strategy, designed to spark the cross-border partnerships that drive the internationalisation of both professionals and their projects. Over the years, RE-ACT delegations have been present at major industry events, including the Sarajevo, Pula, Portorož, and Zagreb Film Festivals. Strategic participation in key industry hubs such as When East Meets West, and more recently Cannes and the upcoming Montenegro Rendez-vous, ensures visibility and creates new opportunities for international connections.
